Brinsford Prison was later inaugurated in 1991, sharing the same premises and sitting adjacent to Featherstone. Car: For those driving from Wolverhampton, head northbound on the A449 – a visitor’s car parking facility is available at the prison.
Bus: Board the number 70 bus from Stand AC to Cannock. Alight at Honeysuckle Drive, Featherstone, and proceed to walk along New Road in the direction of the prison (approximately a 25-minute walk). Signage to the Visitors’ Centre is conspicuous.
Train: Wolverhampton has the nearest railway station, situated 6 miles away. Continue the remainder of the journey via bus or taxi.
Shuttle Bus: An affordable shuttle bus service runs 7 days a week.

How to book a visit to Featherstone Prison
To visit someone in Featherstone you must:
- be on that person’s visitor list
- book your visit at least 2 days in advance
- have the required ID with you when you go
You can book up to 14 days in advance.
Prisoners can have up to 3 adult visitors at a time (18 or over) plus children.
A person can have as many visits as they have visiting orders for. You can check this with the person you are going to visit.
