Ford prison, originally built in 1960 but before that it was part of the Royal Navy Air Arms. The acommodation hasnt changed much since it was an RAF base. The ‘Billets’ are overcrowded with double the amount of inmates per billet and 2 men squashed in one room.
In the main section of ford, there are single rooms available but you would need to have spent some good time on the billets before a single room becomes available when you will finally have some of your own space and not cramped up conditions.

Ford Prison is a male prison. It is for low risk prisoners. To be able to get accepted into a Category D Prison you will have needed to abide by your sentence plan set by OMU, have no outstanding court issues and have no issues on your prison record since coming to prison.
